Activation Process

Client license file and activation (new in 2.0)

From mobiaccess 2.0 mobile clients also requires license file just like the desktop client. Depending on the restrictions in the license file the mobile client may ask you to activate the product.
Activation is a standard way of license validation. The steps of activation:

  • client checks the license
  • if activation is required client will inform you about it and ask you for activation
  • you have to decline or confirm it and enter your activation key if you already have (you replaced your device, or reinstalled the software, etc..)
  • client connects to our central activation server and validates your license
  • if you didn't enter an activation key, the activation server records you as a new user and gives you an activation key

The following screenshots are showing the process of activation.

Note. Though the screenshots are taken about the Windows Mobile 5 client, the announcements are displayed very similar on other platforms too.

How to install a license key file

As the client license files belong to the projects not the clients themselves, and it is possible to use mobiaccess for 2 projects with 2 different license files, every license file are stored next to the xml files of mobiVision mobile configuration. By default there is an evaluation license key file (license-client.key) in the XML directory of the MVHelloWorld configuration in mobiaccess Administration Suite. For every new project you have to copy the evaluation or bought license-client.key file next to the XML files of mobiVision configuration for the project and reinstall the application (or increase the version number of configuration an set up a client upgrade announcement).
